  • Presentation: Dr. Michael Morrow - "Lucy: NASA's Mission to the Trojan Asteroids"

The Trojan asteroids orbit the Sun in at the same distance as Jupiter but in "swarms" at special locations (Lagrange points) that lead and follow Jupiter in its
orbit. In October 2021, NASA launched the Lucy mission which will visit asteroids in the leading swarm in 2025 and in the trailing swarm in 2027. This talk
will touch on the orbits of the Trojan asteroids and on how the Lucy probe will use multiple gravity assists from Earth to visit the two very widely separated
    asteroid swarms in one mission.

  • Observation Reports
