  • Presentation: Youseef Zaazou - "AI to fill gaps in Astronomy"

Abstract: We demonstrate that generative AI can be used to map observations of galaxies across various wavelength filters including ultraviolet, visible, and infrared. This particular application of generative AI is an industry first and could allow astronomers to significantly augment existing observations with minimal computational cost.

Bio: Youssef obtained his BSc from MUN in 2021 with a major in Applied Mathematics and Physics and completed his MSc in Scientific Computing, also from MUN, in 2024. His Master's Thesis titled "Mapping Galaxy Images Across Ultraviolet, Visible and Infrared Bands Using Generative Deep Learning“ was supervised by Dr. Alex Bihlo and Dr. Terrence Tricco.

  • Observation Reports

  • Observing Chair: The Sky Next Month
  • Refreshments, Social

Members will be emailed log-in credentuals for the meeting.
