Presentations: Blake Nancarrow & Member's Night
Presentation 1. Blake Nancarrow (RASC National Observing Committee Chair) will talk about the RASC Observing Certificate Program.
From a young age, Blake Nancarrow taught himself astronomy and
acquired his first telescope in 1990. Unsatisfied in the hobby, he
joined RASC in 2007 as an experiment. Now a member of the London Centre,
Blake
chairs the national Observing Committee and administers the Backyard and
Stellarium training.
He is an operator of the David Dunlap Observatory 74-inch reflecting
telescope.
He likes double stars a lot and has split 1743 pairs to date. Last May,
Blake
was stationed at Killarney Provincial Park Observatory, in
association with the York University Allan I. Carswell Observatory, as
the first
Astronomer-In-Residence.
Presentation 2. Members will be making short presentations of their astronomy-related projects and activities or initiate discussion of questions related to their equipment, or observation efforts.
Presentation 3. Randy Dodge will outline some of the new all-in-one smart telescopes including the ZWO Seestar S50 he has ordered.
