DS-E  Striding Amidst Starfields and Blue Skies

Description: A headless alien strides amidst the dusty molecular cloud complex in the constellation Orion.  The dark nebula is also known as the ÒHorsehead NebulaÓ or Barnard 33.  Buried in dust, the reflection nebula NGC 2023 has the colour of blue skies due to Rayleigh scattering.  Energized by newborn stars is NGC 2024, the Flame Nebula.

Technical Details: Sony A7 with modified sensor, Canon FD 500mm telephoto lens, 110 exposures at 60s, ISO 400, F4.5. Calibrated, stacked, and non-linear stretch in PixInsight. Post-processed in LightRoom.
