M27 "Dumbell Nebula" and starfield, in Vulpecula photographed from east-end St. John's May 17, 2007 by Chris Stevenson, using Canon EOS 350D digital SLR and Nexstar 80GT scope, on a homemade poncet platform.

The image is a combination of eight 10sec exposures and two 30sec exposures at ISO1600, combined in Registax4 for a total exposure of 140sec. A light pollution filter was not used, so the combined image showed a bright redish background, which was removed by histogram stretching and gamma adjustments in Registax and a primitive photo editor. Note the faint satellite trail, from one of the 10sec exposures
