A quick 1/8 sec snap at ISO 800 from our driveway last night March 13, 2012 , of Venus and Jupiter in conjunction 3deg apart. The astute will realize that cross-shaped diffraction spikes are not produced by SLR lens diaphragms (but by cross-shaped Newtonian secondary holders, for example); normally I use a diffraction filter before the lens to make star images look bright (Akira Fuji famously uses a weak blur filter), but didn't last night. I put a hint of the effect in afterwards; otherwise, it's just two white dots that don't look bright.
