Image of Jupiter taken from St. John's, Newfoundland.
Photographed by Tim Caruk - September & October 2012

Jupiter seen here as it appeared on Sept. 29, 2012.  The Great Red Spot storm is visible in the lower right and there is actually a rare appearance of a second smaller red storm below.  The image was taken with a 110mm diameter APO refractor showing exceptional detail for such a small telescope. Again the Neximage 5 showed great performance.

Jupiter now is rising higher in the sky providing great opportunities for clear observation.   I took this image with Celestron's new Neximage 5 planetary ccd through a Celestron 9.25 Sct.   It was magnified to very large size using a 3x barlow and was taken on Oct. 12, 2012.
